The Clear Lake Falcons are currently in 4th place in the 24-6A district baseball standings. When coming into the game against the Clear Falls Knights, the Falcons were 3-3 while the Knights were 3-5. Both teams needed this win to be considered for the playoffs. As the game started, freshman Devin McComas heeled the mound for the Falcons and was determined to pitch a great game for the Falcons.

“I have been preparing for this game all week and I am going to do my best to shut down the Knights,” Devin McComas said.

McComas started out strong as the game began. His pitching game resulted in two hits and five runs in the first four innings. After the Falcons scored 1 run in the first inning and another in the third, it was quiet for a while. When the 5th inning came around, there were constant runs for the Knights.

Six runs in the fifth inning put Falls ahead 6-2. Going into the last inning, senior John Dickey came up to bat and hit a homerun to center field, putting the game 2 runs closer. With the Knights making the last run, the game ended with a score of 6-4.

Although the falcons took a loss, senior Keagan Vance went 2-4 at the plate having the most hits for the Falcons in this game. Every player at bat got a hit, making it hard to take the loss.

“We are a better team then that, if we kept our energy up all game then we could’ve stayed out in front and won that game. Since it’s over and now we have to focus on winning against them on Friday,” Keagan Vance said.

This brought the Falcons record to 3-4 in district and brought the Knights to 4-5. Both teams need this win the be considered for playoffs, only one can be the winner.
