The Importance of Falcon Lunch

CLHS is the only high school in the district that has falcon lunch.

According to Pamela Halferty, Mr. Drake’s Secretary, our school first started Falcon Lunch in 2014 because the school was being rebuilt.

To accommodate everyone, they decided to have Falcon Lunch, an hour-long lunch where all the students could eat at the same time and the cafeteria workers wouldn’t have to worry about distributing food throughout all the buildings.

Most students spend Falcon Lunch doing homework, socializing, or attending tutorials.

No other high schools or middle schools follow an hour-long lunch schedule.

“I think it’s pointless for middle schoolers to have an hour-long lunch because high schoolers actually have a lot of work to do and our classes are just harder,” Anthony Lopez, Freshman said.

“When I was in middle school, kids would just eat and talk, where as in high school, people eat and then go to the library or classrooms, so if they’re given more lunch time, high schoolers would actually use the time for school-related things,” Kiana Fassihi, Freshman said.

Falcon lunch is a way for students to be able to get school-related activities done during the day. They can make-up tests or quizzes during lunch, so they don’t have to stay after-school for tutorials. It’s also a good chance to take care of school fees or drop off important paperwork.

“It’s easier to go to tutorials at lunch, rather than having to go in the morning or after-school, Fassihi said.

Falcon lunch provides many opportunities and whether you use it efficiently or not, it’s a privilege we should cherish.
