Through the mask, there is a monster
Who guards a wall of stone.
Behind the wall, there is an angel,
Broken by its throne.
The angel hides the light and laughter,
Shunned by years of scorn.
Behind the wall, there is a secret,
Pierced by rose’s thorn.
See through the mask and slay the beast,
With but a word in kind.
Make through the wall the smallest hole,
To see inside the mind.
Raise the light and in the arms,
Hold the angel near.
Stay a while, gentle, see,
Help him through the fear.
For behind the wall is light and love,
For those who choose to seek the dove.
