Inside Boy’s Golf

Connor Mathis, Reporter

The lake boy’s golf team has a history of success which they are bringing into 2022.

The golf team at lake doesn’t only help the golfers grow as athletes, but it also helps them grow as people for various reasons.

“Golf has helped me grow as a person in numerous ways,” Meng said. “Golf has taught me work better in a group and has given me more confidence which leads towards success on the green.”

The golf team practices hard for long hours after school.

“A lot of the kids on the team work really hard,” Peavey said. “Johnny (Jonathan Meng) for example is out there 4-5 hours after school each day, and just that strong work ethic throughout the team is what separates us.”

Many see golf as an individual sport, but in reality golf is a team sport. Whether it’s through motivation or just helping a teammate mechanically at practice, golf requires teamwork and perseverance.

“Teamwork is definitely really important for us,” Peavey said. “If I play a hole poorly, then I can help the person behind me avoid making the mistake that I did and help them play it better.”

Lake golf had some goals that they wanted to fulfill before they finish the season.

“I want to keep working hard and keep a strong mindset,” Meng stated. “I also just want to just keep a strong mindset and continue to improve.”

Lake golf will head to Bay Forest on Feb. 21-22, as they plan to continue leading the way as people and athletes.
