The Clear Falls Knights varsity boys’ basketball have defeated the Clear Lake Falcons 71-64. The game took place on Jan. 28 at Clear Falls.

With the loss, the Falcons fall to 21-9 on the year, with a 2-5 record in district play. Clear Falls moves up to 21-7 with a 6-2 district record.

Senior Von Wells lead the way scoring with 22 points on 8-17 shooting. Senior Alex Lee followed Wells with 19 points on 4-10 shooting.

The Falcons offense combined for eight total three pointers. Both Lee and Aidan Wood lead the team in rebounds with six, while Lee also lead the team in assists with seven.

The Falcons scored 31 points in the first half and 33 in the second, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Knights.

“The Knights pulled away in the second half,” Junior Armani Reese said.

Lake entered the game on a 3-game losing streak losing to Clear Springs, Clear Brook, as well as Dickinson.

The Falcons are 5-5 in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, Clear Falls has won three games straight.

The Falcons have four games left in the season with matchups against Brazoswood, Dickinson, Clear Brook and Clear Springs. They’ll have two home games and two away.

Lake currently holds the fifth spot in the 6A Region III District 24 standings. Clear Falls currently holds third, only falling behind Dickinson and Clear Brook.

The Falcons will go up against the Dickinson Gators on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.
