2024 4-star WR Hunter Moddon from Clear Lake has committed to the Texas Longhorns. He made the announcement via Twitter.

The 6’0, 175-pound receiver had offers from schools such as Arizona State, Georgia, Arkansas, Baylor and Michigan State.

“I chose UT because they provide everything I love about football,” Moddon said.

Moddon is ranked 113 nationally, 18 at his position and 13 in the state of Texas according to 247 sports.

The talented 4-star can play both offense and defense, with Moddon getting snaps at receiver and cornerback.

Moddon also competed in track and field, where he qualified for Texas 6A state finals in May.

With the commitment, Texas now has the seventh-best recruiting class in 2024 with two other 4-star commitments.

The Longhorns will get another weapon in Moddon, whose speed will be a problem for opposing defenses.

With Ewers currently at QB, and generational 5-star Arch Manning coming in next year, Moddon will have great company.

A big reason for Moddon’s commitment to the horns is WR coach Brennan Marion, who began recruiting Moddon when he was at Pitt.

“They have an amazing atmosphere, great coaches like Coach Marion and Coach Sark that believe in developing players on and off the field,” Moddon said.

Marion spent one year at Pitt, where he coached Biletnikoff award winner Jordan Addison.

Moddon is currently in his junior season, and with plenty of time to increase his ranking, Moddon could be a top player in the nation by next year’s season end.
