Government guidelines to decrease the number of COVID-19 cases

President Trump announced the extension of national social-distancing guidelines created to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus till April 30, which is a month longer than the original date that was set.

“Nothing would be worse than declaring victory before the victory has been won,” Trump said at a press briefing. “Therefore, we will be extending our guidelines to April 30.”

Trump previously announced that he wanted to reopen the country before the Easter holiday, on April 12, despite the warnings from public health care experts who feared that opening the country before Easter would increase the number of deaths in the country.

With the number of cases in the U.S. climbing each day, it’s early to lift COVID-19 mitigation measures.

Before social distancing and self-quarantine can be stopped, the country needs 14 days of sustained reduction.

With the Corona virus spreading rapidly in the U.S., Trump accused hospitals of hoarding ventilators that are now scarce in the U.S. He ordered hospitals that are not using the ventilators to release them.

“We have some health care workers, some hospitals … hoarding equipment including ventilators,” Trump said.

The new timeline given was issued the same day a federal infectious disease official issued a warning for New York state, which had approached 1,000 deaths at the time. The number of fatalities in America has also skyrocketed to over 2,500 deaths.

With the U.S. death rates doubling in just the matter of two days, Dr. Anthony Fauci says that 100,000 to 200,000 Americans could die before the world-wide crisis is over.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention urged residents in New York City, Connecticut, and New Jersey to withhold unnecessary travel for the next 14 days. This does not apply to employees that are critical to the infrastructure.

Trump signed the $2 trillion stimulus bill into law on Friday, March 27. The bill was created to aid Individuals and provide financial relief to help the Coronavirus battered economy. The U.S. reported more than 142,000 cases, which was the world’s highest total. 22,506 deaths were also reported, according to John Hopkins University data dashboard.

The possibility of exposure to respiratory viruses such as Coronavirus increases in a crowded setting, especially in a closed-in setting with little air circulation. People who are at higher risk for the virus are older adults and people with serious, chronic medical conditions.

Scientists are working around the clock to find a cure for the Coronavirus. Meanwhile, people are encouraged to follow the government issued guidelines in an effort to minimize the spread of this harmful disease.
